In one of my legacy experiments, I tested how well NovelAI could reproduce different art styles. I curated a long list of artist tags and used them as the basis to generate hundreds of images.
After seeing people request something similar on the r/NovelAI subreddit, I decided to revisit the experiment, this time using the latest NAI Diffusion V4.5 model.
I wrote a Python script that leverages the NovelAI API to generate all of these images. I first locked in a generic prompt designed to let the artist tag influence the image as much as possible. Then I set the script to iterate through every one of the tags.
The script requires manual input for each image, so there was a lot of button pressing. This was intentional: according to NovelAI ToS, 9.1.5 (which I confirmed directly with the NAI team), automated generation without human involvement isn't allowed.
It didn't take many images to realize that a large number of the artist tags that previously influenced results in older models were either much weaker here, or missing entirely. I had to rewrite the prompt repeatedly to give the artist tag the best possible chance to shine through. Eventually, I settled on the one shown below.
That said, many images still carry the telltale “NAI Diffusion V4.5” aesthetic. It's a bit of a shame. I tried to minimize this by using artist: tag, but when removed, or when replaced with a natural language equivalent, the unique style often failed to come through at all.
Prompt:
1.2::artist:______::, portrait, -2::nude::
Character 1:
girl, blonde hair, blue eyes, soft smile, cardigan
Model used is NAI Diffusion V4.5 Full, Steps 28, Guidance 4, Quality Tags Enabled, UC Preset Heavy, Seed 282427355.
Since all images were generated using the same seed, several tags that might normally look great just didn't here. If you're using these tags for your own prompts, keep that in mind. Don't judge their potential solely by these results, instead, find a style you like and try it again with other seeds or using your own phrasing.
Some prompts haven't gathered enough votes to make the list just yet. If you see something you like, give it a thumbs up to help it rise through the ranks. And if something looks off or doesn't quite hit the mark, a thumbs down helps keep the gallery sharp.
Every vote shapes the gallery!
